It’s 40 years since the quintessential Yash Chopra film, Kabhi Kabhie, was made and the occasion has seen the movie’s lead stars indulging in nostalgia.
While Amitabh Bachchan and the ethereal Rakhee were cast in the lead roles, Kabhi Kabhie featured Rishi Kapoor, Neetu Singh, Waheeda Rehman and Shashi Kapoor in some of their most memorable roles ever.
Kabhi Kabhie was remarkable on many counts. For one, it marked the arrival of Amitabh Bachchan, the romantic hero, after a string of angry young man roles. The poetry and lyrical music woven into the film were part of its success and popularity. Much of the shooting was in Kashmir and Rishi Kapoor remembered the experience of shooting there in his tweets.
The Big B, wrote on Facebook:
“40 years of ‘Kabhi Kabhie’ !! The lyrics and poem still as popular as before… !! The times spent in Srinagar Kashmir in one long stretch and finished the film .. Those were the days .. REALLY !!”
He also posted vintage photos and posters from the film.
