One of the most awaited biopics of the year is undoubtedly that of Indian cricket’s Captain Cool – MS Dhoni. Sushant Singh Rajput, who plays Dhoni in the movie, has had only four releases in Bollywood so far, so some might feel he is inexperienced to play such a big character on the screen, but from what we hear, Dhoni himself had recommended the actor to director Neeraj Pandey. With many similarities between the two, here are 5 reasons why we feel the 30-year old actor is the perfect man to play the role of skipper Dhoni.

Background: Dhoni and SSR hail from almost similar backgrounds. Both were born and raised in small towns before they moved to bigger cities to pursue their dreams.

Relationship with father: The fathers of both of them were government employees and wanted their sons also to take up a government job. Both fought with their father and took up their own passion instead of following the footsteps of their father.

Sister’s support: Dhoni’s sister Jayanti stood by him when nobody in his family supported Dhoni. Similarly, Sushant’s sister Mitu encouraged him to take up acting when he failed to convince his father.

Walk and talk: To be perfect for the part, Sushant has worked hard not just on his acting skills, but also on his walk and talk so that it is similar to that of Dhoni’s. In the first part of the film, Sushant can be seen sporting the same unkempt mane which had become Dhoni’s signature hairstyle.

Cricket nuances: SSR has also trained hard to get the cricket nuances correct, right from the helicopter shot, to the famous shoulder movement to the wicket-keeping skills.
