Sanjay Dutt or Sanju Baba (as we fondly know him) turned 57 today. While he might have seen a fair share of ups and downs in his personal life, he has won several hearts as an actor for nearly two decades. From playing a carefree young man in Rocky (1981) to the deadly antagonist Kancha Cheena in Agneepath (2012), Dutt has played a variety of characters over the years. Here are 5 five of his sides that we can’t get enough of!

  1. The romantic side: He might not be the conventional romantic hero, but admit it—each of you went weak in the knees when his eyes bore into yours and even as he pretended to sing those romantic songs in Saajan and Sadak.

  2. The no-nonsense villain: You don’t mess with him when he is on his way to finish a job. He slays just with his walk or by the twirl of his knife. Remember his brilliant performances in Khalnayak, Daag The Fire, Musafir or even Shabd?

  3. The ultimate villain: If you can’t mess with the no-nonsense Sanju Baba characters, then simply forget about the ultimate villainous side! His gangster roles in Kaante and Vaastav are considered to be milestones in his career. His portrayal of the deadly Kancha Cheena in Agneepath elevated him as being one of the best villains of all time in Bollywood.
