The obstacles have been designed to test every muscle and each obstacle has been designed and tested in a manner that will appeal to participants across all age groups. Further, in the interest of the safety of the participants, each obstacle will be supervised by a certified IMF (Indian Mountaineering Federation) instructor on the day of the race.

Now here’s the catch, every obstacle has to be completed, you cannot give up. Participants who are unable to complete an obstacle will have to go through penalty squats!

How the Alpha League Races took shape

Alpha League Races was born over light banter between Harshveer Singh Saluja and Bishen Singh over a few games of squash last year. By midnight they had decided to ‘make it happen’. In the days that followed, Harshveer shared the idea of an obstacle course race with Jatin Arora, who had earlier supported Harshveer’s 100 km run in Ladakh. Jatin, being a fitness trainer for years, was thrilled. Then Harshveer shared the plan with Aval Juneja. ALR excited Aval too. Two months later, Ninety Nine Steps Sports & Entertainment Pvt Ltd, the holding company of ALR, was registered.

In December 2014, the inaugural edition Alpha League Races was held at Gurgaon – promoting a healthy lifestyle outside the comfort of a gym. It was resounding success!

Breaking the monotony

The Alpha League Races has successfully communicated the concept of obstacle course races and the upswing in participation has been a testimony to this. While no one can deny that marathons enjoy huge popularity in India, many fitness lovers are hungry for that additional zing, breaking the monotony of running on molten tar.

The Alpha League Races team, says, “We see ourselves running, running over hurdles with thousands of people across India. We want Alpha League Races to feature on the running calendar of enthusiasts.”

The 2nd edition of the Alpha League Races will be organized is Bengaluru on June 7, 2015. The response has been extremely encouraging with participants coming from various cities across India – Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Chennai, Mysore, etc.

A muddy 5 km track with over 20 obstacles is a more enticing and is definitely going to put your strengths to test! So, time to move beyond the run.
