A compulsive gambler from Kanpur, India put his wife as a stake in an IPL betting game and lost her.
Ravinder Singh lost all of his money in the share market and decided use his wife Jasmeet Kaur, as a bet in the IPL game. Kaur realized about what her husband had done, when some men began harassing her at home and at the boutique which she owned.
Kaur alerted the police at the harassment and lodged a complaint against her husband. The couple have been married for 5 years.
The marriage was on shaky grounds since day one. According to a report by TOI, Ravinder asked Kaur to hand over all jewelry and other valuables on the very first day. The wife allegedly told the police that her husband beat her up every now and then and also urged her to bring money from her parents.
Ravinder was also planning to sell the house for the sake of IPL betting, said the police.
