The tensions between Pakistan and India is high as violence near the border continues between the two nations.  With increasing number of ceasefire violations by Pakistan and surgical strikes carried out by the Indian army, there is a growing fear that a full fledged war might break out any time.

It all started when four terrorists entered the town of Uri in Jammu and Kashmir and killed 19 Indian soldiers. India retorted back a week later, carrying surgical strikes against terrorist camps along the LoC.

Recently, even the Indian Motion Pictures Association banned Pakistani actors from working in Indian movies permanently.

In between all this bitterness among the two countries, a heart-touching tale of friendship transcends beyond borders emerges.

Humans of Pakistan, which is similar to Humans of New York, in a Facebook post narrated a story about two boys from Pakistan, who have a friend on the other side of the river. They don’t know his name but they do know he is an Indian.

“We have a friend who lives on the other side of the river. This time every day, he comes back from school. He always stands over there and throws stones in the water. We do the same. Whoever gets their stone to skip the furthest distance wins. We play this game every day.”

– What is your friend’s name?

“We don’t know. The river makes it hard for us to talk to each other. But we do know that he is an Indian Kashmiri because that’s on the river’s other side,” the Facebook post made along with the pictures of the two boys read.

The story has gone viral with close to 3.5k shares on Facebook. Perhaps it’s true when they say, there is a lot that we can learn from kids.
