In what it is speculated as a pragmatic stride, the BJP has secured an ally whose roots apparently run deep into the unique core of the Adivasi plebiscite.

C K Janu whose name is synonymous with the tribal land movement in Kerala, reportedly accepted BJP’s ticket from the Sulthan Bathery constituency for the forthcoming assembly elections.

Addressing a press conference in Alappuzha on Wednesday, she said that the yet-to-be formed party Janadhipathya Rashtreeya Sabha will join the National Democratic Alliance led by BJP.

She also added that she will contest from Sulthan Bathery in Wayanad. She announced her decision immediately following the meeting with Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Yogam’s (SNDP) president Vellapally Nateshan in Alappuzha.

“The new party will not be led by me, instead by a group of people. Adivasi representatives will also be present in the party,” said Janu. Meanwhile, BJP’s state president Kummanam Rajasekharan extended support to Janu on the formation of the new party.
