Kanchanamala became a living sensation after Prithviraj portrayed the real-life tragic story of her abiding love for Moideen in the romantic thriller ‘Ennu Ninte Moideen’( Yours Forever, Moideen). Ever since the movie became a box office hit, the public spotlight turned to Kanchanamala, now 75, who is living for the past 30 years as the widow of a man she never married. The search for her led to BP Moideen Seva Mandir, a charity organisation set up by her at Mukkam in Kozhikode.
Hundreds of people are now streaming to the Seva Mandir to have a glimpse of this extraordinary woman who has suffered and sacrificed for love and pose for a selfie with her.
Ironically, Kanchanamala is yet to see the movie. A heart patient, she is advised by doctors against watching the move as it could emotionally disturb her.
Prithviraj is now all set to portray the inspiring real-life story of a deaf-mute person, Saji Thomas, who has successfully built an aircraft in his forthcoming movie ‘Vimanam’ (aeroplane).
A native of Thodupuzha in Idukki district, 45-year-old Saji used to watch with curiosity the helicopters which came to sprinkle pesticides on the rubber plantation near his house in his childhood. It kindled in him a burning passion to make an aircraft himself.
In spite of heavy odds, Saji, a Class 7 drop-out, assiduously worked towards realising his dream and ultimately succeeded in building a twin-seater ultra-light aircraft with used and recycled materials. He christened the aircraft `Saji X Air-S’.
The aircraft has done several successful flights over the Manimuthar valley in Tamil Nadu. Saji has applied for a license for his aircraft from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, which is yet to come.
His story is being featured in the latest programme in Discovery channel titled ‘HRX Superheroes’, which is hosted by Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan. Incidentally, ‘HRX Superheroes’ marks the debut of Hrithik as a presenter on the small screen.
Prithviraj’s new film will portray the trials and tribulations undergone by Saji and his wife Mariya in pursuit of Saji’s dream. Saji will make three small aircrafts for the big-budget movie for which he has received an advance from Prithviraj.
