An Indian businessman paid a hefty Rs 60 crore for a number plate in Dubai

An Indian businessman paid approximately Rs 60 crore at an auction in Dubai to buy a exclusive single digit number plate.

Balwinder Sahani, who owns a Dubai-based property management company has a passion collecting unique number plates and when the single digit ‘D5’ plate was put up for auction by the Dubai road authority, it was opportunity too big to miss. According to the report by Gulf News, he won the auction after placing a 33 million bid on the item.

Over 300 bidders participated Saturday in the auction, where eighty special number plates were on offer.

“I have collected 10 number plates so far and I am looking forward to having more. It’s a passion. This number will go to one of my Rolls-Royces,” said Balwinder.

These unique number plates have become a rage in United Arab Emirates, where auctions such as this fetch millions dollars for the organisers.
