An upset Bahrain Prime Minister donates money to a struggling Odisha Man

Dana Majhi of the Melghar village in Kalahandi had to carry his wife’s on his shoulders for 12 KM from the hospital as he couldn’t afford a van. His wife, who was suffering from tuberculosis passed away on Wednesday, Aug 25th. Despite requesting, the hospital wasn’t ready to help help him.

It was only when some locals spotted him and informed the matter to the authorities, an ambulance was sent right after to take the body to his village. The news of Dana Majhi’s plight had managed reach the Prime Minister of Bahrain.

Upset about the whole thing, Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa decided to offer financial support to Majhi and his family.

“His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa read about the man, who carried his wife’s body for 12 km after the hospital where she died allegedly failed to provide an ambulance for her to be sent back to their village,” reported The Gulf Daily News

Allegedly, the Prime Minister was so upset by the news that he could not just stand by and let it go. The Prime Minister’s office contacted Bahrain’s Indian Embassy and in an humanitarian gesture, donated a sum of money to help the man and his family.

There is no information on the amount that was offered.
