Yet another mugging case reported from Koramangala and this the victim was attacked with a sickle

The incident took place at 1.15 am, near State Bank of Hyderabad on 100 feet Road. Uday Tiwari, a software employee was  returning back to his home in eight block, Koramangala, when  he was attacked by a gang of three on a scooter.

The gang threatened him with a sickle and robbed him his mobile phone, wallet and watch. The muggers then asked Tiwari give them his ATM pin, but he refused and began to scream for help. This angered the culprits and they hit him on his leg with the sickle. An injured Tiwari failed to note down the registration number of the scooter.

According to the Tiwari’s complaint, the attackers looked to be in their late 20’s and spoke Hindi.

Speaking to Bangalore Mirror Tiwari’s roommate Deepak said, “I was inside our rented house on the first floor. I heard someone screaming for help, and realized it was Tiwari, I rushed out to find him collapsed on the ground and three men riding away in a scooter. I learnt that they hit him with sickle, I gave chase, but they managed to escape.”

After several such incidents in the past, Koramanagala residents had installed around 60 high resolution CCTV cameras last year, to help the police out. However, this proved to be little helpful.

“After taking Tiwari to hospital, we immediately called up the bank and blocked all his cards.Koramangala police who have taken up the case of robbery has checked the CCTV footage of the SBH ATM kiosk but the resolution is not good, so it was not helpful for them,” Deepak said.

According to the police, most of these incidents happen late night, when there are very little commuters on the road. Areas such as Koramangala and Indiranagar, which hubs for Bangalore Nightlife attract these muggers, a senior official told Bangalore Mirror.
