Thursday (October 15) marks the 84th birth anniversary of former Indian President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.

Fondly known as India’s Missile Man, Kalam’s contribution towards the field of science made him one of the most revered scientists in the world. Born to a boatman in Rameswaram on October 15, 1931, Dr Kalam played a vital role in 1998’s Pokhran-II nuclear test – the first test by the country in 1974.

Earlier this year on July 27, in a massive loss to mankind, Abdul Kalam passed away in Shillong.  Kalam, who served the nation as the 11th President from 2002 to 2007, collapsed while delivering a lecture at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM).

A Padma Bhushan and Bharat Ratna recipient, we take a look at 15 quotes that made Dr Kalam an inspiration for the entire nation.
