Fisherman Mark Watkins from Bunbury in west coast Australia chanced upon a strange floating object in deep seas and it completely left his flabergasted at sight.

Watkins first thought it was a boat of some kind and then wondered if it could be a hot air balloon. However, by going further near the objected he realized that it was the bloated carcass of decaying  dead whale, reports The West Australian.

The 36-year-old fisherman along with his with father noticed the whale carcass on July 27. He noted that the carcass of the whale was bloated because of formation of gas within.

“Seeing it was great, the smell not so much,” Mr Watkins said on Facebook after posting the picture.

Watkins also noticed presence of the large number of sharks in the location where he and his father spotted the carcass.

“We actually did have a 3.5 to 4m white pointer around our boat that day – it seemed more interested in our boat than the whale,” The West Australian quoted Watkins.

However,  by the time the duo reached the shore, the bloated carcass wasn’t seen anymore. Watkins said that the sharks must have probably fed on it.
