The matrimonial site, Shaadi.com is one of the most prominent match making site in India. Call it a marketing gimmick, but Shaadi.com has come up with a very creative way to spread awareness regarding dowry deaths.
Their twitter handlers @shaadiDotcom started promoting an online “calculator” to promote your dowry worth.
Netizens have seen many such “calculators” but were shocked that a legitimate brand promoting such backward practices. The link would take you to an interface that asks you your age, income, degree, professions and place of residence (India/abroad) before revealing your dowry worth. Then something astonishing happens that tumbles like a slot machine to the number 91,202.
