A Bangalore teenager leaped to death from the 10th floor of his flat in J P Nagar after returning from school.

The incident took place on Wednesday, 29 June. 14-year-old Raunak Banerjee took his own life allegedly after being distraught over constant bullying at school.

A suicide note that he left behind read,  “It was bullying and the same is happening repeatedly and it is intolerable. Those who I considered my friends betrayed me.”

The child’s parents reportedly approached the J P Nagar police and demanded action against the students responsible for bullying their son.

The school authorities told The New Indian Express that the bullying incident hadn’t taken place on the school premises. “We do not encourage such things. Counsellors at the school handle such issues properly as soon as they come to know about even a minor incident. We are shocked by the incident. The van Raunak was travelling in belonged to a private agency and it was hired by his parents. The incident did not occur on the school premises. No police official has approached us for any statements,” said the school authorities.
