Bangaloreans’ nightmare: 10 traffic jams the city dreads

If you are a true Bangalorean, it’s safe to say that you would encounter one or more of these traffic jams that get you wishing you had wings to fly. But until evolution catches up with the human race, we are forced to go through the gruesome hours of looking at a sea of vehicle in front of us at various junctions in this city.

1. Marathalli Junction

If you live or work in Whitefield or the adjourning areas you are bound to get stuck here. The road leading to this junction is unkempt and this ‘once upon a time discount haven’ provides no relief to you daily routine.

2. KR puram- Tin factory

Residents of KR puram, Whitefield and Mahadevpura are always stuck in a nightmare to get home from this flyover (more like “slow”over). With buses going towards Tirupati piling up, its always a logger head of vehicles at the foot of this flyover.

3. Silk board junction

There is nothing silky smooth about this junction. The narrow roads with no escape means commuters are often stuck at a single signal for hours. Time to feel tired and “board” here.

4. Whitefield area

The big IT park area has big traffic problems. The roads are broad, but not broad enough for thousands of techies. Result: choked bandwidth.

5. Old Airport Road

The Airport might have moved from here, but the traffic never takes off from this road. The movement is at snails pace during peak hours.

6. Old Madras Road, Byappanahalli

It was believed that the metro will alleviate the traffic pain. But until the metro becomes full fledged, this signal at Byappanahalli will continue to be a long painful wait for commuters.

7. J.C Road signal

The Town Hall and corporate junction is seemingly uncooperative. With the Majestic bus stand and city market close by, mostly buses pile up and block up.

8. Mekri Circle

The speedy Yelahanka airport road passes through Hebbal and comes to a grinding halt here. Narrow roads and merging junctions lead to traffic woes here.

9. Sarjapur road

From Koramangala it is a happy ride. But once you to get away from it the road gets narrow and hell is unleashed.

10. MG Road

At the heart of the city, there is a block. Either side of the Brigade-MG junction are often plagued with jams. Come IPL and the Anil Kumble circle can send you for a spin. Not literally of course.
