A number of class 12 students in Bengaluru took to the streets to protest against the cancellation of their chemistry board exam after the question paper was leaked. They were seen shouting slogans and waving banners.

“We are not ready to write this exam at any cost. Our exams are over…let them put whichever date… we are not ready to write it,” said one of the students, who was outside the office of the Karnataka education department, to NDTV.

The chemistry exam was rescheduled for 31 March after a student alerted authorities that the question paper for the chemistry exam which was supposed to be held on 22 March was leaked.

After the students and parents protested, the government asked the Criminal Investigation Department or CID to inquire into the matter.

CID later confirmed with the Department of Pre-University Education, at 3.30 a. m. this morning, that the question paper had , in fact, been leaked again and asked them to notify the students not to attend the exam.

The investigators informed the government that the paper was leaked at two different places in the state.

According to NDTV, the CID reportedly sent the education officials three question papers in circulation hours before the exam. One of them matched the original question paper.

The angry students complained about the mental trauma involved in preparing each time for the exam. “This is not a game for them to set a date, give a paper and ask us to write?” questioned a student angrily according to NDTV.

Another student told NDTV, “We have entrance exams to prepare for. We have to mentally prepare ourselves.”

This incident follows the CBSE maths paper controversy which was reportedly extremely difficult. Some MPs of the opposition party reportedly criticized the government on the grounds of rumours that the paper was leaked in Bihar to undermine the bright south Indian students.
