A Bengaluru software engineer was arrested after he threatened to shoot a bus driver with an air gun.

The incident took place on the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway near Bidadi. Sathvik and his friends were headed to Srirangapatna for a vacation. He had reportedly tried to overtake a KSRTC bus over a few kilometres, honking menacingly, but the bus driver hadn’t budged.

When the driver stopped the bus at the Kothi Anjaneya Swamy Temple to drop a passenger, Sathvik blocked the bus’s path with his car. He pulled out an air gun and threatened the bus driver with it.

The passengers who thought the gun was real and dangerous got out of the bus and surrounded the car. Sathvik, who was allegedly drunk, began abusing the people. Things turned ugly when the passengers tried to  pull him out of the car by smashing the windshield and deflating the tyres.

Once Sathvik and his friends got out of the car, the angry mob trashed them and handed them over to the police.

Sathvik was arrested under IPC Section 353 (assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from discharging his duty). Furthermore, the air pistol has been sent for forensic tests and if found to be dangerous to human life Sathvik will also be charged under the Arms Act.
