Bengaluru: This 18-year-old is a student by day and thief by night

Bangalore Police arrested an 18-year-old who was a student in the morning, a vegetable vendor in the afternoon and a thief in the night.

Balraj, who is pursuing his PUC in a government college would change his persona and sell vegetables in the afternoon. However,  this is only a cover he used to map out places where he and his associates would hit next.

The accused was trying to steal a mobile phone from a room on the third floor of the Sai Paying Guest Hostel on Floor Mill Road near International Tech Park Bangalore (ITPB) on Whitefield Road on Saturday afternoon. 42-year-old B Anand, the owner of the hotel spotted the thief in the act and tried to nab him. When the burglar tried to escape, Anand raised an alarm and the occupants of the hostel chased and nabbed him.

When Balraj still tried to resist, he was beaten and handed over to the police. He was taken for treatment to a government hospital in CV Raman Nagar. He is currently in the custody of the police.

Balraj claimed that he had even stolen bikes before and had been arrested by the JJ Nagar and City Market police for the same. He said that he had come out of jail two months back and continued stealing.

The police are currently on the lookout his accomplices. They managed to recover two mobile phones worth Rs 10,000 from Balraj.
