In a shocking act of cruelty, Ponnamma (a resident of Jalahalli West) hurled eight puppies on to boulders and killed them. Enraged by the incident, local residents lodged a complaint with CUPA (Compassion Unlimited Plus Action) and the NGO promptly registered the complaint with the Peenya police the same day.

The suspect allegedly committed this heinous act to teach the bitch a lesson. The bitch, affectionately called Ammu in the area, had dared to give birth to a litter next to Ponnamma’s house. Ponnamma’s idea of warning the bitch to stay away from the house was by murdering the pups. A CCTV camera, installed near the suspect’s house, captured the incident. Peenya police has sized the footage.

bangaloremirror reports that Ponnamma was arrested and released on bail. If proven guilty, she might might be imprisoned for five years, under Section 93 of the Karnataka Police Act (punishment for cruelty to animals) and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.
