Actor Suresh Gopi, who is BJP’s main man in Kerala in the backdrop of the forthcoming assembly elections, seems quite far-sighted when compared with Chief Minister Oommen Chandy—at least in the case of addressing the need for more airports in the state.

Suresh Gopi, who is spearheading BJP’s campaign in Kerala, expressed the need for a new airport in Pathanamthitta district. Manoramaonline reported that he said the airport could ‘at the least’ house the service of Boeing flyers. However, he clarified he had opposed the Aranmula airport project as it raised serious ecological concerns.

Earlier in February, Chandy, in an effort to highlight his government’s developmental achievements, became the butt of jokes by hurriedly ‘inaugurating’ an ‘incomplete’ airport in Kannur.
