Islamic clerics seem to be getting more creative and intuitive while issuing fatwas.

This time, a top cleric from Saudi’s “Council of Senior Scholars” has a problem with cats. Cleric Sheikh Saleh Al-Fawzan issued a fatwa that bans people from taking pictures with cats.

In response to a question regarding “a new trend of taking pictures with cats, among people who want to be like westerners”, the cleric first asked what that even meant. He then said, “Taking pictures is prohibited. not with cats, not with dogs, not with wolves, not with anything”.

While Al-Fawzan was on video discussing “pictures with cats”, he said that “taking pictures is prohibited if not for necessity”. The video was posted by MEMRI TV.

In the past, clerics have prohibited women from watching football because the “player’s thighs” were exposed. They’ve even forbidden chess saying that it is a waste of time and encourages gambling.

We wouldn’t be surprised if the next fatwa bans people from using their brains.
