If reports are to be believed, the Left Democratic Front (LDF)—which staged a huge comeback in Kerala—has decided to make 72-year-old Pinarayi Vijayan the state’s next chief minister. The decision was made at a meeting of the Left leaders in Thiruvananthapuram.

There were speculations that the veteran leader V. S. Achuthanandan would lead the state for at least six months. But Achuthanthan’s faction within the CPI(M) has reportedly rejected the ‘rumours’.

The state executive committee of CPI(M) is expected to make an announcement in Thiruvananthapuram at the earliest.

The existing friction between the leaders is no secret and hence it is speculated that the party would settle ‘issues’ amicably with the final announcement.
