Celebrities who have spoken against Donald Trump
This time, the run up to the finish line of the US elections is already turning out to be very interesting, with many celebrities participating in campaigns and talking freely about their support for a candidate. Many musicians have written songs endorsing their favorite candidates and actors have made videos ranting out against the one they don’t support. But mostly, many celebrities are against the Republican candidate Donald Trump and have spoken openly against him. From Johnny Depp calling Trump a brat, to Jennifer Lawrence saying that him being elected as the President will be the end of the world, and Miley Cyrus declaring that she’ll move to another country if he is elected President, here are some celebs who are against Donald Trump winning the elections.
Arnold Schwarzenegger: The former governor of California and a fellow Republican has come out against Donald Trump, joining the long list of Republicans who are against the Republican candidate. The actor had tweeted, “For the first time since I became a citizen in 1983, I will not vote for the Republican candidate for President.”
Robert De Niro: The legendary actor has left no opportunity to speak against Trump, having repeatedly called him “totally nuts”, “stupid” and wanting to “punch him in the face”. He has earlier also said, “It’s crazy that people like Donald Trump…he shouldn’t even be where he is, so God help us.”
Mark Ruffalo: Mark, alongwith many other artistes signed a petition titled “Artists united against hate”, where they wanted to “defeat the presumptive Republican nominee for President, Donald Trump,” saying, “Trump wants to take our country back to a time when fear excused violence, when greed fueled discrimination, and when the state wrote prejudice against marginalized communities into law.”
Jack Black: Actor-comedian Jack has said that he would choose anyone for President over Trump, even hip-hop star Kanye West. He said in his interview to a magazine, “This guy’s (Trump) just a hot head and he’s a billionaire, and how can you trust that he’s not just going to be looking out for No. 1, as he always has?”
Samuel L. Jackson: Their twitter feud was quite embarrassing. While Jackson claimed in an interview that Trump had added him to one of his golf clubs without his knowledge and later sent him a bill, Trump responded by saying he didn’t even know who Jackson was and had never played golf with him.
Cher: The singer has openly vented out against Trump, calling him a “pathological liar”, “a racist”, “a fascist” and “disgusting”, saying that she’ll move to Jupiter if he was made President.
George Clooney: The actor called Trump’s idea of banning Muslims from entering the US a “massively stupid idea”. He had said in an interview, “He’s just an opportunist. Now he’s a fascist, a xenophobic fascist.”
Shakira: Talking about Trump’s hateful comments on Mexican immigrants, Shakira had said, “This is a hateful and racist speech that attempts to divide a country that for years has promoted diversity and democracy! No one living in this century should stand behind so much ignorance.”
Eva Longoria: The actress slammed Trump in a hard-hitting speech where she said, “I’m from a small town in South Texas and if you know your history, Texas used to be part of Mexico. Now, I’m ninth generation American. My family never crossed a border, the border crossed us. So when Donald Trump calls us criminals and rapists, he’s insulting American families. My father is not a criminal or rapist, in fact, he’s a US veteran. When Trump cruelly mocked a disabled reporter, he was also mocking my special-needs sister Lisa and many like her. When he said that a wife who works is a very dangerous thing, he not only insulted me, he insulted my mother who worked as a special-education teacher for 40 years and raised four children while being a wife.”
