Lately, celebrities have been writing open letters to their daughters/granddaughters, talking about things which matter to growing up girls and persuading them to follow their dreams, no matter what the society said. Some of these letters made headlines an captured our attention for the inspiration the wise words were, not just to the girls but to everyone in general. Here are 4 such celebrity letters that are a must-read for all of us.

Amitabh Bachchan’s letter to granddaughter Navya Naveli and Aaradhya:

The letter penned by the legendary actor to both his granddaughters is inspirational in many ways, as it talked about everything from gender inequality in the society today, to marrying for love, from listening to the heart and making their own identities in the world. He urged them not to be dictated by others and also shared a video of himself reading out the letter online.

Farhan Akhtar’s letter to daughter Shakya:

Most Indian parents shy away from talking about sex education and sexual crimes with their kids. Hindustan Times has taken the initiative of getting eight Indian personalities to write open letters and talk about the rising crime of sexual assaults in India. The series began with Farhan Akhtar writing an open letter about rape to his elder daughter Shakya, who is now 16.

He started the letter with a poem he had written earlier on rape. He told her about the harsh realities of the society we live in, and about how the definition of freedom taught to her might not be the same for the society. He also spoke about Bollywood’s love for objectification and stalking women. He also encouraged her to chase her dreams and be safe.

Prakash Padukone’s letter to daughters Deepika and Anisha:

As part of Sudha Menon’s book, ace badminton player and coach Prakash Padukone wrote a letter to his daughters actor Deepika Padukone and golfer Anisha Padukone.

While he advised Deepika not to get too affected by the glamorous world, because eventually she has to return to the real world, he also advised younger daughter Anisha to take life’s ups and downs in her stride and never let go of her passion for golf. He also pleaded all parents to let their kids follow their dreams.

Sushmita Sen’s letter to daughter Renee:

Sushmita Sen recently joined Instagram and her posts since then have us hooked to her profile.

But one particular post had our attention over others, and that was a letter she wrote to elder daughter Renee when she went to boarding school in 2013.

She told Renee to arm herself with knowledge, to carve her own way in the world, to nurture friendships, to work hard, to know when to apologize and more importantly, to do one thing which scared her everyday. Isn’t the letter very inspiring?
