Chris Gayle received a lot of backlash for flirting with a woman journalist on air recently. The cricketer’s frequent ‘flirty banter’ with female sports journalists has made him quite a womanizer in the sports circles, and he was criticized by many for making inappropriate remarks and asking out reporter Mel McLaughlin on live TV.

Here’s a look at some other sports personalities, who have been condemned for their indecent public flirting with journalists.

While Gayle is being grilled over his ‘disrespectful remarks’ to Mel, he isn’t the only one who hit on a female journalist in public. During a January 2014 interview, cricketer Dwayne Bravo hit on the same reporter – Mel McLaughlin, when he made a special mention about her beauty on air. When asked by the interviewer if he had a special message for one of the commentators, Bravo said, “I just want to say hello to Mel, beautiful Mel, I was lucky enough to meet her once in Sydney. I just want to say hi and I see she’s still looking beautiful.”

While Gayle continues to face a lot of bashing and a possible worldwide ban, social media is ripe with accusations at tennis star Maria Sharapova, who was openly flirting with an Australian reporter during an interview. While Sharapova was busy “admiring his form” on international TV, the reporter’s normal response followed up by another question made sure that the matter was soon forgotten.
