Comedian and Malayalam actor Kalabhavan Mani passes away

Renowned Malayalam actor and comedian Kalabhavan Mani passed away on Sunday evening. He was 45.

The actor was being treated for liver ailments and, reportedly, also suffered from kidney malfunction.

The actor was admitted to a private hospital in Ernakulam on Friday but his family kept it from the media for the sake of privacy.

Mani is survived by his daughter Vasanthi Lakshmi and wife Nimmi. The comedian was an auto driver before be broke into the Malayalam film industry in the late 90s. Mani had also worked in the the Tamil and Telugu film industries.

Mani was also a charming impressionist and a folksinger who enjoyed widespread support and appreciation.  He won the special jury award at the National Film Awards and the Kerala State Film Awards in 2000.
