Featuring Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone and 98 other women from Mumbai, Vogue’s latest video on women empowerment is getting all the attention for its bold message. Titled ‘My Choice’, the video talks about liberating women from the age-old clutches of our society.

This black-and-white 2-minute video showcases 99 women from different walks of life with Deepika leading from the front and calling for a change in the ‘caged’ mindset of men about women.

She says, “It is my choice to live life the way I want, to wear clothes I like, to decide how I want my body to be, when I want to get married or if I ever want to walk down the aisle, to decide if I want to be straight or a lesbian.”

The video also features other prominent faces like Nimrat Kaur, Adhuna Akhtar, Anupama Chopra and Scherezade Shroff.

Take a look

The video has received mixed responses with one section encouraging Vogue’s initiative to back women empowerment, while the other rubbishing this as an attempt to jump on the feminism bandwagon.

Did you expect the men to remain silent?

Now, let’s face it – every action has an equal and opposite reaction. If you thought that men would silently accept this Vogue women’s empowerment appeal, then you obviously got it wrong. While most women are rather happy with what is being said and projected in the ‘My Choice’ video, some men have rubbished Deepika’s point that assumes men cheat on their partners.

In response to Deepika’s video, a male version uploaded on YouTube from Details.com, has gone viral as well. Whether Vogue India or Deepika Padukone or filmmaker of the original video Homi Adajania will come back with a strong response, one will have to wait and see.

For the time being, here’s the My Choice – Male Version video:

Whether you agree or disagree to what these two videos have to say is purely ‘Your Choice’!
