Delhi Daredevils secured Kerala batsman cum wicket keeper – Sanju Samson for a staggering Rs 4.2 deal during the Indian Premier League auction that was held in Bengaluru on Saturday.
In the auction which involved bids for eight marquee stars, deal for Sanju outshined all others except Shane Watson (Rs 9.5 crore), Yuvaraj Singh (Rs 7 crore) and Ashish Nehra (Rs 5.5 crore).
English cricketer Kevin Peterson who had been speculated to reap fortunes equal to Yuvaraj Singh could get only Rs 3.5 crore. Jose Butler (Rs 3.5 crore), Dinesh Karthik (Rs 2.3 crore), Steyn (Rs 2.3 crore) and Dwayne Smith (Rs 2.3 crore) were all all overshadowed by Sanju on Saturday.
It is speculated that fantastic cricket brought out by Sanju for Rajasthan Royals during last seasons became crucial factor during the auction.
