‘Love is blind’. And supposedly this belief motivated a Dutch man to stay in a Chinese airport for 10 days,  in hope of meeting his girlfriend showing up.

Unfortunately, he waited in vain and ended up fatigued and hospitalized.

Alexander Pieter Cirk, 41, arrived at Changsha’s Huanghua International Airport in July end hoping to meet a 26-year-old woman named Zhang. Even though he tried contacting the woman upon arrival, there was nobody to receive the poor man.

With high hopes of meeting his ‘girlfriend’ he refused to give up waiting and to return. But his hopes remained mere hopes.

According to a Facebook post by CCTV News, Cirk’s ‘love’ for Zhang had blossomed over a dating app. And poised to meet the woman, Cirk decided to go to Changsha in Hunan province of China which is time zones and 4500 km away from where he resides.

Reportedly when Cirk contacted Zhang upon arrival, her cell phone was switched off and she apparently was out of town.

According to the local reports, Zhang said she would meet Cirk after she returned and that she’s still interested in a romantic relationship with Cirk.

However, Cirk is soon to fly back to Netherlands.
