In a shocking incident in Delhi’s Seelampur area today, an eight-year-old boy’s body was found floating in a sewage gutter.
Police officials identified the boy as Amit, who was reported missing since Wednesday evening.
Reportedly, the boy was last seen flying kites near the ditch along with other children. Local found the body floating in the ditch by 11 am Thursday.
“The locals alleged that the plot was a property of DDA but we are yet to verify ownership of the land,” a police officer was quoted by PTI.
A case has been been registered and the body has been sent for autopsy to determine whether the boy died due to drowning or some other reason, he added
According to reports the ditch was 10 feet deep and was filled with drainage from a nearby petrol pump, police said.
The boy lived with his family including his father Vijay Ram, mother Shila Devi and two younger sisters, at Taj Market in Old Seelampur.
