A 60-year-old woman was stripped and tortured by certain members of a family in a village in Lakhimpur Kheri district, Uttar Pradesh. Do you know why? Because her son had ‘eloped’ with a girl belonging to their family. The Press Trust of India (PTI) confirmed that the police reports stated the same.
“Reportedly, the woman’s face was blackened and chilly powder allegedly thrown in her private parts to ‘punish’ her,” PTI quoted the police.
The woman was rescued only after her husband called out other villagers and the police for help.
The woman’s son had eloped with a girl from a family in the same village—the act had evoked tension between the two families.
Superintendent of police Akhilesh Chaurasia said an FIR was lodged against five persons, including four women who are absconding.
