Fall in love with Bangalore all over again
In hustle and bustle of our daily, busy twenty-first century lives we often forget how beautiful and diverse this city we live in is.
Bangalore has so much more to offer than most us know, so here’s how we think you could fall in love this is amazing city of ours all over again;
1. Take a nice walk in a park.
Sure its no Hyde park, but Cubon Park and Lalbagh have a charm of their own. Walking under canopies of Gulmohar trees, and get lost in thought is an amazing way to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon.
2. Go watch a Music Gig
Sure concerts are fun, but there is something so romantic, so intimate about gigs, the smaller setting, the more relaxed vibe, might all be a reason. Our favourite places to see a gig in Bangalore are; Humming tree, Hard Rock, and bFlat, but there are so many more we might not even know about. To me music is an intrinsic part of the city and there is no better way to understand it then to attend a gig. (If you cant make it to a gig for some reason, and want a similar vibe, visit Pecos on a Friday or Saturday night, they always have classic Rock playing, and you notice something that is so Bangalore, virtually the entire bar is singing along, and I don’t mean humming, I mean singing at the top of their lungs!)
3. Watch a Play
While theatre might not be what the city is known for, there are certainly quality plays performing in the city. The main centres where you can watch a play are Memorial Hall, Rangasthala Auditorium at Rangoli Art Centre, Alliance Francaise de Bagalore, Chowdiah and the two staples of the Bangalore theatre scene, Jagriti and Ranga Shankara
4. Have a Classic Bangalore breakfast
Sure Sagars are great, but for a truly Bangalore experience, you need to head to either Malleswaram or Basavanagudi, the OG Bangalore neighbourhoods. The traditional bangalore breakfast is the Benne Dosa. If you are in Malleswaram CTR and Veena Stores are our favourites and if you are in Basavanagudi, MTR (Mavalli Tiffin Room) and Vidhyarthi Bhavan are the places to be.
5. Stroll through the M.G. Road Area
Where old Bangalore meets the new face of the city. Somewhere between the bars and Blossoms Book House, you will begin to hear the ticking of the city’s heart, the rhythmic honking of cars, the yelling of hawkers will make you understand, that you are not in a place, it will make you understand that you exist within a living, breathing organism that is the city of Bangalore.
