First Federer, now Rafa! Another shocker down under as Nadal is knocked out of Australian Open
A big chunk of tennis fans stopped watching the 2015 Australian Open when Roger Federer was ousted in the third round last week. Earlier today, another big chunk would have done the same after Rafael Nadal’s shock quarter-final defeat against Tomas Berdych.
As Berdych broke his 17-match losing streak against the Spaniard, several heartbroken Rafa fans expressed their sadness on Twitter.
Not the first thing you want to hear in the morning.
WTF!? Cant even believe #Berdych saw off my #Nadal at the Aussie open! OMG! Well, every dog has its day! #nadalberdych #AusOpen #tennisprobs

And those who dislike Nadal also let their feelings known.

Or this closet Murray fan!
It's great waking up to see #Berdych had destroyed #Nadal today! Had a feeling he might! Now time for the #Murray / #Kyrgios show! #AusOpen

This guy is worried that Rafa’s loss would affect his form in PS3.
Next time while playin tennis in PS3 should refrain from selecting #Nadal What ra scoring 0/6 , 2/6 and all. Cha.

However, most lauded the honesty and sportsmanship Nadal showed in the post-match comments.

There were some who remained hopeful.
Just seen the #Nadal score… Sad yet not totally shocking given his lack of matches. He'll be back <3 #VamosRafa #RafaFan

While others turned speculative.

First it was Federer and now it’s Rafael Nadal. Not to forget, Eugenie Bouchard was also knocked out by Maria Sharapova earlier in the day. Could this be a new beginning?
Could the Australian Open be the making of a new generation of tennis stars. Lots of big guns already out #Federer #Nadal
