From the personal library of Osama bin Laden: Conspiracy books, love letters, porn stash and more

US intelligence, on Wednesday, released the details of hundreds of documents it recovered during the 2011 raid on Osama bin Laden’s hideout in Abbottabad, Pakistan that saw the Al Qaeda frontman’s death.

The declassified books, articles, magazines, technical documents and letters certainly paint a fascinating picture of him. Close on the heels of the allegations made by famed investigative journalist Seymour Hersh that the Obama administration acted hand-in-glove with Pakistan to stage a raid on the Abbottabad compound, the interest in these documents grows even stronger.

Like an unruly teenager, he checked out the material on MK ULTRA. Like a normal boy, he too, had a cache of porn, though it is yet not revealed in the interests of good taste. Like a doting husband and a father, he too had kept safe the letters written to and received from his family. He addressed his favourite wife ‘the apple of my eye’ and requested her to ‘raise their children properly’. What will make you burst into a guffaw are some of the instructions listed on the Al Qaeda job application form .

But what gets our vote is his collection of books that stands for his avid interest in conspiracy theories.
