Girls top AP’s intermediate exams

The results of the first and second year intermediate examinations in Andhra Prdesh are out and the girls’ pass percentage has surpassed that of the boys’. The state’s education minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao said that girls have topped the results.

The girls’ pass percentage in the first year is 72.09 and the boys’ is 64.02. The girls’ pass percentage in the second year is 76.43 and the boys’ is 71.12.

Andhra Pradesh’s Board of Intermediate Education announced the results of both the first and second year at the same time—that’s a first!

The minister also added that Krishna district stood first again in this year’s results with 84 per cent. Dirstirct-wise, Kadapa was at the bottom of the list but with an improved percentage when compared to the last year’s result.

A total of 4,11,941 students appeared for the second year’s examination—out of which 3,03,934 students have passed. The students who have failed the exams can appear for the supplementary exams on 24 May after paying the examination fee in the stipulated deadline.

“I studied till 11.30 in the night and again got up at 5.30 a. m. during examinations,” says Sai Nandan Thogtamadam of NRI Junior College, Tirupati, who achieved 97 per cent. Sai Nandan said that he focused on all the subjects from the beginning of the year which brought him the good percentage of marks. The exam results can be viewed by visiting www.bieap.gov.in.
