Mayhem in Kerala assembly. God’s own country goes to the dogs!
The state assembly in god’s own country became the devil’s playground.
The budget presentation by the Kerala Finance Minister K M Mani of the UDF government became a free for all of fisticuffs, with chairs and microphones being thrown around. Several legislators fainted and four were hospitalised.
Even the Speaker’s chair was not spared, with members tearing out his microphone and flinging it across the room.
Earlier in the day, Opposition members tried to prevent the Finance Minister from entering the assembly. They sat in the well of the House, with women legislators positioning themselves just in front of Mani’s official seat.
See the video below for the mayhem in the Kerala assembly.
The high drama began yesterday after the opposition said it wouldn’t allow Mr Mani to present the Budget. They allege that the Finance Minister accepted a Rs 1 crore bribe to renew the licences of bars that were shut down by the Kerala government last year.
