Grammy 2016: At a glance
Here is a look at 58th Grammy winners. The 58th Grammy Awards saw Taylor Swift take home her second best album honor and ‘Uptown Funk’ the award for best record. Meghan Trainor bagged prize for best new artist and Ed Sheeran won for best song.
Record of the year
‘Uptown Funk’ by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars outshines ‘really love’ by D’Angelo and the Vanguard, ‘Thinking out Loud’ by Ed Sheeran, and ‘Blank Space’ by Taylor Swift.
Album of the Year
Taylor Swift bagged her second consecutive Album of the year award with ‘1989’.
“As the first woman to win album of the year at the Grammys twice, I want to say to all the young women out there: There are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame, but if you just focus on the work and you don’t let those people sidetrack you, someday when you get where you are going, you’ll look around and you will know that it was you and the people who love you who put you there and that will be the greatest feeling in the world,” said Taylor Swift referring to Kanye West’s comments on her album, during her prize acceptance speech.
Best new artist
Meghan Trainor won the best new artist award, the only category she was nominated in.
Best Rock Performance
Alabama Shakes’s ‘Dont wanna fight’ won Grammy under the ‘best performance‘ category. Alabama Shakes has won other awards too this year.
Best Alternative Music Album
Alabama Shakes showcased a prize winning streak as the band bagged the honors in this category as well. Prize for the album was for the album ‘Sound and Color’.
Best Rock Song
Alabama Shakes won yet again with their song “Don’t Wanna Fight.”
Song of the Year
“Thinking Out Loud,” by Ed Sheeran and Amy Wadge bagged one of the most prestigious awards of the night.
Best Pop Vocal Album
Taylor Swift’s “1989” bagged one more at the Grammy.
Best Pop Solo Performance
Ed Sheeran bagged another Grammy in this category for “Thinking Out Loud.”
Best Pop Duo/Group Performance
“Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars won another award at the Grammy.
Best Traditiional Pop Vocal Album
Tony and Bill Charlap bagged this award for their Album “The Silver Lining: The Songs Of Jerome Kern.”
Best Rap Album
Kendrick Lamar won the Best Rap album category for “To Pimp a Butterfly” and dedicated it to Hip-Hop.
Best Rap Performance
Kendrick Lamar gets another with his “Alright.”.
Best Rap/Sung Collaboration
“These Walls.” by Kendrick Lamar featuring Bilal, Anna Wise & Thundercat won this category.

Best Rap Song
“Alright” by Kendrick Lamar Duckworth, Mark Anthony Spears & Pharrell Williams bagged this category registering the name Kendrick in all the Rap categories.
Best Rock Album
“Drones.” by muse won this category fair and square.
Best Urban Contemporary Album
Abęl Makkonen Tesfaye aka The Weeknd bagged this category for his album “Beauty Behind The Madness.”
Best Country Album
“Traveller” by Chris Stapleton won the best country album category.
Best Country Duo/Group Performance
Little Big Town’s ‘Girl Crush’ won this category.
Best Country Solo Performance
Chris Stapleton again bagged another one for his ‘Traveller’.
Best Country Song
‘Girl Crush’ by Hillary Lindsey, Lori McKenna and Liz Rose again won another one of Grammys
Best Metal Performance
Ghost bagged their share of Grammy with ‘Cirice’.
Best Dance Recording
Skrillex and Diplo with Justin Bieber bagged this category for ‘Where Are Ü Now’.
Best Dance/Electronic Album
Skrillex And Diplo, ‘Skrillex And Diplo Present Jack Ü’ won the Best Dance/Electronic Album category.
Best R&B Album
D’Angelo and the Vanguard’s “Black Messiah.” won the best R&B album category.
Best R&B Performance
The Weekend bagged this award with his song ‘Earned It’ (Fifty Shades Of Grey).
Best Traditional R&B Performance
Lalah Hathaway won this category for ‘Little Ghetto Boy’.
Best R&B Song
‘Really Love’ by D’Angelo and Kendra Foster won this category.
Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical
‘Sound & Color’ by Alabama Shakes; Shawn Everett, engineer and Bob Ludwig, mastering engineer.
Best Blues Album
Buddy Guy’s ‘Born To Play Guitar’ won the best Blue’s album.
Producer of the Year, Non-Classical
Jeff Bhasker with Indian roots, won this award and to his credit, anyone could see that coming.
Best Music Video
‘Bad Blood’ by Taylor Swift featuring Kendrick Lamar bagged this one.

Morgan Heritage won this category at Grammy for his album ‘Strictly Roots’.

Beninese-born American song writer and activist, Angelique Kidjo bagged for her album ‘Sings’.

Arturo O’Farrill, son of Chico O’Farrill would have made his father proud by bagging Grammy for ‘The Afro Latin Jazz Suite’.
