Johnny and Laura Benson spent months preparing for their wedding in Fort Collins, Colorado. Nevertheless, things may not always go as planned.

Following the couple’s wedding in the town last Monday, they headed outdoors to Horsetooth Reservoir for a post wedding shoot with adventure wedding photographer Maddie Mae.

In a comic twist of events, in came the villain – a rattle snake – who bit the groom.

“I felt this bump against my leg and, and I wasn’t sure I got bit or not. But I felt it. I looked down, and there it was, rattling, I was like, ‘You gotta be [kidding] me. Did this really just happen?’,” Johnny was quoted recalling by The Washington Post.

On a re-examination of the wound, as insisted by the bride, they confirmed the bit marks.

The photographer, in the meanwhile, spotted a park ranger passing by and called for help.

Rattlesnake bites can be quite serious. They are venomous, and symptoms can include paralysis, bleeding and breathing difficulty. People bitten by rattlesnakes should seek medical attention quickly, usually at a hospital. And as anti-venom is expensive and expires, many ambulances don’t carry it.

Paramedics who arrived at the spot discussed the possibility of calling a helicopter carrying anti-venom dotes. However, Johnny wasn’t showing serious symptoms of the snake bite.

While the story eventually had a happy ending.

The medics confirmed that the bite had been dry and venom hasn’t entered Johnny’s bloodstream.

All the while Laura stood beside her newly wedded husband.
