Just days after a 65-year-old woman named Sheeluamma was mauled to death by stray dogs in Thiruvananthapuram, a self proclaimed hacker group based in Kerala disrupted the website of an animal welfare organization under the aegis of Maneka Gandhi.

A message on two of the pages in the website – peopleforanimalsindia.org on Sunday claimed that it was hacked into by the group.

A message left by the hackers on the compromised website reads: “Apparently there were no “Trees to climb” !!! This poor defenseless 65 years old lady mauled to death by 50 stray dogs.”
The group reportedly hacked the website owned by Gandhi who is also the Union Minister for Women and Child Development, demanding stray dogs free India. Gandhi has been vociferous in opposing the killing and culling of stray dogs in the state.

Sheeluamma was killed by stray dogs on last Friday night sparking an state-wide outrage. Since stray dog menace have become a severe issue in the state, people have been blaming the authorities for having failed in culling the unruly canines.

On the other hand, it should not be forgotten that stray dogs survive on unscientifically disposed waste, thus maximizing the survival of newly born pups. And we have quite a talent to pussyfoot in the darkness to swing waste at public holdings!

And appreciate oneself saying ‘a pat on the shoulder for a job nicely done!’
