Hacktivists from Kerala Deface Pak Websites
In a bid to pay tribute to Lt.Col Niranjan E Kumar, who died battling ‘militants’ of Pakistan terror outfit in Pathankot Air Force base earlier this week, a Kerala based hacktivist group – ‘Indian Black Hats’ defaced eight Pakistan web portals.
The hacked portals included government run websites, websites of Pakistan Bar Council and of Lahore based energy companies.
The hackers managed to take down seven websites on Wednesday and one on Thursday. However, the hacker group, which claimed to have access to the domains of defaced websites, reportedly refrained from deleting data from the sites as it was just a ‘tribute’ and not an act of ‘cyberwar’.
The hacker collective dedicated the cyber attack to Vismaya – daughter of the deceased military officer.
“This Attack is dedicated for Vismaya, daughter of NSG Commando Lt Col Niranjan!! A Big Salute from team IBH To the familys of brave soldiers who lost their life in Pathankot Attack!! A Small Tribute to those Brave Soldiers who Laid their Precious Life for our Country and our People!! (sic)” said the collective in defaced websites.
