Have you ever wondered who the ‘success kid’ is?

We all know him as the success kid! But did you know that his real name is Sammy Griner and he is now 8 years old?

Back in 2007, Sammy’s mom clicked the perfect photograph of her son trying to eat sand. The image became a meme-rage after it was shared on Flickr.

Last year, Sammy reappeared on the internet to request people to help his dad out. Justin Griner needed a kidney transplant and the family reached out to the internet to crowdfund the treatment.

Sammy’s mother Laney was initially against using her son’s popularity for the fundraiser, but later agreed to it. 

The online campaign was a success and the family managed to raise more than $100,000. Justin underwent a  successful operation and is now doing well.
