There’s a lot of buzz around Tollywood star N Balakrishna’s 100th film. The film is a period piece, set in the time of Satavahanas—whose capital Amaravati is incidentally the new capital of Andhra Pradesh.

Balakrishna will play the role of Gautamiputra Satakarni—one of the most successful Indian kings. Meanwhile, the film’s director Krish Jagarlamudi hopes to rope in veteran actress and BJP leader Hema Malini for the role of Gautami Balashri, the king’s mother.

Hema Malini is presently in the US and will return on 10 April. The director is yet to narrate the story to Hema Malini. The rest of the cast will soon be listed.

Should Hema Malini agree to play the character, it would be her first Telugu film in half-a-decade. She had also briefly appeared as a dancer in NTR’s Pandava Vanavasam in 1965.

Nayanthara, who had earlier starred with Balakrishna in Sri Ramarajyam, is likely to share the screen again with the him. Nithya Menon will also star in the film.

Reportedly, the film’s shooting is said to begin on 8 April.
