Here’s why Times Now should never ever ever… ever ever ever… insult Dhoni & Co. again!
India’s loss to Australia in the 2015 World Cup semi-final disheartened a billion fans world over. Virat Kohli’s dismal performance, Anushka Sharma’s presence at the SCG and captain MS Dhoni’s lackluster leadership was thrashed across social media platforms.
However, what came as a surprise to many was one of India’s leading news channels – Times Now’s ‘shameful’ mockery of our Men in Blue. Editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami and team did not take the 95-run loss gracefully and described the setback as ‘an abject surrender’. More so, the channel went on to insult captain MS Dhoni’s leadership and obviously forgot the many achievements of one of India’s best captain.
Agreed that India did not put up their best foot forward against the four-time world champions; but, does the team really deserve news tickers that read:
Did the dropped catch clearly show Kohli was feeling the pressure?
Did Suresh Raina get carried away and gift his wicket?
The channel also went on to demand an apology to the nation from Virat Kohli, who undoubtedly has been one of the best Indian batsmen in recent times. And all this for what? Just playing a bad show and dropping a catch?
This over-the-top insult against our Men In Blue has set Twitter on fire. Here’s a look at what ‘the nation’ has to say ‘today’.
