Hold on to your horses – The Mustang is here!

2015 Ford Mustang

Ford, in a bid to beef up muscle in India, today launched the Mustang at a glitzy function in New Delhi. Unlike the left hand drive versions which are the norm in the US, this 50 anniversary edition that is being launched in India sports right hand drive. We refuse to see this in conjunction with the fact that the new product head for Mustang is named Prakash Patel! Whatever be the reasons, it is certain that Ford cannot choose to ignore a market as big as India. The promotional event in Delhi where the wraps were taken off the car was headlined by Bangalore rockers Peepal Tree.

Ford has worked on the Mustang to ensure that it can survive India. Changes have been made to enable the car to be able to wade through water(not surprising, given how most of our roads are), it now sports a louder horn (did we say we’re in India?), and will also have better all round protection for the body.

Much like the horse it is named after, the Mustang promises to deliver the free spirit of the hardy horses of the wild west. It’s distinctive looks make it instantly recognizable, and despite what shades Ford rolls them out in, we won’t be surprised if customers engage custom jobs to get their cars ‘striped’ very quickly!

The India bound Mustang is loaded with high performance everything an enthusiast can ask for – including projector headlights, DRLs, rear diffuser and even a lamp that projects the Mustang logo onto the ground! The model will reportedly be equipped with 19 inch alloys, 6 speed auto shift, and a 5 litre petrol V8 that can spew out over 400 horses, leaving you gasping for breath. You’ll have to wait until later this year to know exact prices and to get your hands on one though.
