Breaking news: Rahul Gandhi asks for leave of absence from the Congress party from his mother, the Congress President, to “reflect and plan the future of the Congress”.

We thought we will put down Rahul’s unspoken reasons behind the decision in the form of a ditty. So here goes.

Congress’ ache din

‘Politics is in my shirt and my pants’,
But obviously not in my genes,
I tried quoting Gandhi and Keynes,
But they told me that I am still in my teens.

In Delhi, I have a great address,
But how do I convince the Congress,
That change is in the air ‘beyond you can imagine’,
‘Jupiter’s escape velocity’ is that needs to come surging,

‘Last night I got up in the morning’,
But the election results, they had come without any warning,
The Congress numbers tallied with my age,
All because of the chaiwala and that the Mani Aiyar outrage.

I say ‘poverty is a state of mind’,
But the brother-in-law said the state of poverty is my mind,
I do not what he meant but I heard Priyanka crack up in the end,
And, there will more such bouncers that I will have to fend.

I told Patel & Digvijay that I need a break from this travesty,
For I was feeling down and really rusty,
With no more ordinances to demolish and tear,
I am really feeling the blues and worse for wear,

I asked mama mia for some leave,
To reflect and get a plan for the Congress up my sleeve,
A little too quickly did she agree and didn’t raise a din,
Did I hear the chailwala say “Congress ke ache dhin”?
