Tamil Nadu’s chief minister and AIADMK’s general secretary Jayalalithaa appointed G Ramachandran—an IIM Ahmedabad graduate—as the secretary of the party’s IT wing.

It seems as though Jayalalithaa is keen to infuse modern management strategy to help the party campaign better. Ramachandran will lead the party’s online election campaign. The state’s assembly election will be held on 16 May.

Ramachandran hails from Balaji Nagar (Singanallur constituency, Coimbatore district). Reportedly, he opted out of a career in management and has stated Jayalalithaa as his inspiration to join the party.

Ramachandran’s political aspirations may also be linked to his late father Singai Govindarasu, who was Singanallur’s MLA between 1991 and 1996. Ramachandran was earlier elected general secretary of the students’ affairs council at IIM-A.
