Kanhaiya Kumar is in the news yet again. This time for ‘demeaning’ the integrity of the Indian Armed Forces in Jammu & Kashmir. He was recently granted interim bail by a court in Delhi after he was detained for alleged ‘anti-national’ sloganeering.

Kanhaiya, while addressing a students’ gathering at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), alleged that the members of the elite armed forces in Kashmir rape women.

“No matter how much you try to stop us, we will speak up against human rights violations. We will raise our voice against the AFSPA (Armed Forces Special Powers Act). While we have a lot of respect for our soldiers, we will still talk about the fact that in Kashmir, women are raped by security personnel,” he said.

Irked by the allegations, the  Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) on Wednesday lodged a complaint against Nivedita Menon (a professor at JNU) and Kanhaiya at the Vasant Vihar police station in Delhi. Indian Express reported that police officials had confirmed that they’d received the complaint but an FIR hasn’t been filed.

“Despite the submission of an undertaking before court, Kanhaiya has yet again addressed a gathering of students and uttered poisonous words against the Indian Army, labelling them as rapists of Kashmiri Women,” said a BJYM statement.
