CRPF constable Khursheed Ahmad was shot eight times by militants in Kashmir Valley. Presently the 41-year-old CRPF constable is recuperating at Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

And now the only thing he wants to do is to return to duty to continue hunting militants in the valley.

Khursheed was injured on the 25th of June when militants launched a blitzkrieg on a military convoy carrying the jawans from a practice session to their base, in Pampore.

Five jawans were killed in the attack instantly and 22 personnel were left seriously injured including Khursheed who was grievously wounded by eight bullets.

The injured personnel were immediately rushed to the hospital.

In Khursheed’s case, seven bullets were removed by surgeons, however they consider it risky take out the eighth one.

According to the doctors, one of the bullets has hit a tricky place on Khursheed’s body where it is difficult to be diagnosed by MRI scan. And it can’t be taken out immediately because his back is seriously injured and needs to be healed first.

The injured Jawan has been recovering in the hospital for the last two months. Though he is unable to sense his lower body, it has not dampened his spirit to fight terrorists.

“I may be injured right now, but I still want to go back and fight for my nation. Those militants tried to kill me but somehow I survived. God has saved me for a purpose, and I will make sure that I dedicate the rest of my life for the people of my country,” Khursheed was quoted by Daily Mail in an interview.
