If the number of films in the pipeline are an indicator of success, then Keerthy Suresh is going to be ruling the charts this year. What’s more, the actress has projects in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam, making her the hottest star in the South at the moment.

A child star

Keerthy Suresh’s dad Suresh Kumar is a film producer and her mom is the veteran actress Menaka. So, even though Keerthy studied fashion design, she seemed destined for a career in films and featured as a child artist in films such as Kuberan.

The first break

It was ace director Priyadarshan who gave Keerthy her first break as lead actress. She played a dual role in the horror comedy Geethanjali and the offers soon came flowing in. In Malayalam she then went on to do Ring Master, directed by Rafi. This year, Keerthy will star in the Gopi Kuttikal directorial Darboni as well.

Kollywood calling

Keerthy made an entry into Kollywood with Idhu Enna Maayam. She co-starred with Vikram Prabhu in the film directed by A.L. Vijay. The film evoked mixed reviews, but Keerthy was certainly now on the radar of filmmakers.

This year, she’s starting on a sweet note and is Sivakarthikeyan’s heroine in the Pongal release Rajinimurugan, directed by Ponram.

Keerthy’s other releases for the year are going to be Paambu Sattai, Nurse Akka and Rail.

On top in Tollywood

In Telugu, too, Keerthy opened the year with a bang, starring in Nenu Sailaja which was declared a box-office hit.  She’ll also be seen in the upcoming Aina Ishtam Nuvvu in which she’s paired opposite Navin Vijay Krishna.

And the latest is that she’s bagged the female lead in the Telugu remake of Thani Oruvan, edging out Shruti Haasan whose name was being tossed around for the role. This Ram Charan Teja starrer will certainly see Keerthy making even bigger strides in Tollywood.
